ICCA Consortium at the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples

The ICCA Consortium participated in the 6th session of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP) held in Geneva, Switzerland from 8-12 July, 2013. In the occasion it organised there a side event jointly with its members Natural Justice and IPACC. The side event was dedicated to ‘ICCAs and Access to Justice’.

A Synthesis Report of the Side Event is available in English and French.EMRIP was created by the Human Rights Council, the UN’s main human rights body, in 2007. Resolution 6/36 established it as a subsidiary body of the Council to provide thematic advice in the form of studies and research on the rights of Indigenous peoples. The Expert Mechanism may also suggest proposals to the Council for its consideration and approval.
