Pooven Moodley

Pooven Moodley, a human rights lawyer and social justice activist from South Africa, is currently Executive Director of Natural Justice, a Member of the ICCA Consortium.  His experience spans from the anti-apartheid struggle to working with women’s right to land in Africa, from challenging mining companies to promoting rights to health and education and supporting movement building. Before joining Natural Justice, he has worked with Oxfam and ActionAid, including in a successful campaign to prevent nuclear energy related deals between South Africa and Russia.  He works closely with indigenous communities in several continents. Pooven keeps active in providing solidarity and support to activists across the globe and has been proposed as eminently qualified to co-chair the Consortium Theme on ‘Defending Territories of Life’.
