Jessica Merriman
Communications Associate
Based in Indonesia and Malaysia. Jessica collaborates with the ICCA Consortium on co-creating and editing communications materials. Through her work, she is committed to advancing approaches to conservation that are led by Indigenous peoples and local communities, and to the protection of their rights to govern their lands, waters, and territories of life.
Jessica Merriman holds a Master in International Affairs from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland. Her fields of expertise include communications, Indigenous rights, community-led conservation, and environmental justice. She works with The Borneo Project, where she supports campaigns and advocacy efforts in collaboration with Indigenous communities in Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo. Her work focuses on documenting and amplifying community perspectives in contexts of land conflict, deforestation, and industrial development, with particular attention to strengthening locally grounded narratives of stewardship and governance.
