Mirta Pereira
Regional Representative for the Andes and Southern Cone
Mirta Pereira Giménez is a lawyer and public notary with a master’s degree in Criminal Due Process and Procedural Law from national universities in Paraguay. Since 2010, she has worked with Indigenous Peoples as a legal and policy advisor to the Federación por la Autodeterminación de los Pueblos Indígenas (FAPI).
Through FAPI, she has supported territorial, legal, and political processes by reviewing agreements, developing projects, negotiating agreements, and providing legal advice to Indigenous communities. Her work spans human rights, climate change, REDD+, small grants, ecosystem restoration, land use, and territorial governance. She has represented FAPI on the National Commission on Climate Change and the National Commission to Combat Desertification. In addition, she served as FAPI’s technical focal point for the UN-REDD Programme, working closely with public institutions, FAO, UNDP, and UNEP. Within the ICCA Consortium, she supports the coordination of the Southern Cone region, helping advance regional processes.
