Fisherwomen learning exchange gathering in Costa Rica

First published on 11/24/2017, and last updated on 09/17/2020

Women play a crucial role in small scale fishing in oceans, rivers and mangroves. In November 2017, fisherwomen from different parts of Costa Rica shared their knowledge and experiences of good practices in sustainable fishing and on related subjects such as land tenure, climate change, invasive species, culture, decent work and health, among others. This meeting was held in the context of the national agenda on improving the condition in which these women support their community and family by their productive work. The learning exchange was held in collaboration with FAO and organized by CoopeSoliDar R.L and the Network of Marine Responsible Fishing Areas.
