Following the 22nd General Assembly (GA) of the ICCA Consortium, convened virtually in May and June, we officially welcome our newly elected Council members.

Electing these representatives is one of the key decisions of the GA.

The Council serves as the second-highest governing body after the GA, comprising a maximum of 30 global and region-specific positions. Through established election procedures, these new members were successfully nominated by members in good standing to serve their terms across various thematic and regional positions.

Newly Elected Council Members

  • Amado de Jesús Ramos Prieto: Regional Representative for Mesoamerica and the Caribbean
  • Anara Alymkulova: Regional Representative for West and Central Asia and the Caucasus
  • Mirta Pereira: Regional Representative for the Andes and Southern Cone
  • Sergio Couto: Regional Representative for Europe
  • Soavinalahatra Nasolo Harijery: Regional Representative for Madagascar and the Indian Ocean Islands

By stepping into these roles, our new Council members will help strengthen diversity, representation, and intergenerational relations within the Consortium. We look forward to their leadership in elevating the voices of Indigenous Peoples, local communities, bona fide custodians of territories of life, women, gender minorities, elders, and youth.

We also thank the ICCA Consortium members and Council members who submitted nominations to help fill these critical leadership positions.
