Welcoming our new Translation Coordinators and Administration Assistant

We are very excited to announce that Daniela Campos Rubio, Alison Powell and Gaëlle Le Gauyer took on their new roles within our Secretariat as of 1 October 2020.

Daniela Campos Rubio (based in Chile) has joined as Translations Coordinator (ESP-ENG), Alison Powell (based in Portugal) has joined as Administration Assistant and Gaëlle Le Gauyer (based in Ecuador) has taken on the role of Translations Coordinator (FRA-ENG).

We are confident that they will fit in well with our unique organisational culture and significantly strengthen our translation, interpretation and administration capacities in service of our membership.

 

Daniela Campos Rubio is based in Santiago, Chile. English, Portuguese and Spanish Translator with a degree from the University of Santiago, Chile. Her fields of expertise are human rights, sustainable development and gender. Her interest in Indigenous peoples and their territories of life increased when she was an intern for the IHP Human Rights Programme of the ICCA Consortium Member, Observatorio Ciudadano. Daniela studied Portuguese Language and Culture at the University of Lisbon for a year. Nowadays, she works as an analyst and collaborates with the ICCA Consortium in translations and interpretations mainly from English to Spanish.

Alison Powell is based in Lisbon, Portugal. Alison grew up in Seattle, USA, where her enthusiasm for wilderness and environmental activism started at a young age. She graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University in New York City in 2009 with a degree in Environmental Policy and a focus on climate change mitigation policies in agriculture. Her studies took her abroad to India and Costa Rica where she investigated intersections between ecology and communities. Alison also has a strong aptitude for organisation, exemplified by over 6 years as a program manager at Google for research in natural language understanding. She left the corporate world in 2017, travelled throughout South America to re-engage with communities fighting for positive change, and in 2018 settled down in Portugal, where she is involved in various grassroots projects. Alison uses her experience in administration, project management and community organising to help improve and maintain ICCA Consortium operations and logistics.

Gaëlle Le Gauyer is based in Ecuador. She has handed her responsibilities as Administration and Communications Assistant to Alison Powell, Kathia Carillo and Mohammad Arju. Gaëlle will move into a new role as our Translations Coordinator (FRA-ENG), with responsibility for translations and interpretation from English to French.
