Based in South Asia. Arju was born and raised on a Bay of Bengal island. His early years among struggling farmer and fisher communities, and later experience as a traveling journalist across coastal areas and islands, made him committed to pursuing more just and inclusive societies. He has more than twelve years of experience in communication and locally led conservation. Arju worked with local and international conservation groups in Bangladesh, helped organizations in India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and the United States in collaborative projects, strategic communication, and network building. He is personally committed to decolonizing conservation to ensure social-ecological justice for all communities whose life is inseparable from their land.
