Ali Razmkhah

Global Coordinator

Ali Razmkhah is an Iranian based in Italy. His journey with the movement for the territories of life dates back to 2012. For over a decade, he has worked in various roles with one of the founding organizations of the ICCA Consortium, the Centre for Sustainable Development and Environment (Cenesta). From 2018 until recently, Ali was the Regional Coordinator for the ICCA Consortium in West and Central Asia and the Caucasus region.

Throughout his tenure with Cenesta, he actively engaged with Indigenous communities in diverse biocultural landscapes, including forest dwellers, marine and coastal communities, transhumant pastoralists, and small-scale farmers. He led several initiatives that provided legal support and fostered participatory resource management through self-strengthening the governance institutions of these communities.

Ali holds a master’s degree in international law, specializing in small-scale farmers’ rights, intellectual property rights to seeds, and food sovereignty. He is a Ph.D. candidate at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. His Ph.D. research focuses on enhancing Indigenous Transhumant Pastoralists’ biocultural rights.
