Alison Powell

Former Administration Coordinator (2020-2022)

Based in Lisbon, Portugal. Alison Powell grew up in Seattle, USA, where her enthusiasm for wilderness and environmental activism started at a young age. She graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University in New York City in 2009 with a degree in Environmental Policy and a focus on climate change mitigation policies in agriculture. Her studies took her abroad to India and Costa Rica where she investigated intersections between ecology and communities. Alison also has a strong aptitude for organization, exemplified by over 6 years as a program manager at Google for research in natural language understanding. She left the corporate world in 2017, travelled throughout South America to re-engage with communities fighting for positive change, and in 2018 settled down in Portugal, where she is involved in various grassroots projects. Alison uses her experience in administration, project management and community organizing to help improve and maintain ICCA Consortium operations and logistics.
