Henri Rakotoson

Regional Co-coordinator for Madagascar and the Indian Ocean islands

A member of the Andranobe Fokonolona (traditional local community) of central Madagascar, Henri has founded the community-based organization VOI TAMIA in 2004 and been its president since then. The organisation won the Equator Prize in 2020. He is also the co-founder of TAFO MIHAAVO, a network created in 2012 in Madagascar, bringing together Fokonolona who manage their own natural resources. Winner of the Paul K. Feyerabend Leadership Award in 2020, Henri served as national treasurer of TAFO MIHAAVO between 2012 and 2022, before becoming its Vice-President (a position he currently holds). He is also the founder and coordinator of the community cooperative FIFIMPAVA, a cooperative that gathers different groups of fishermen in the Vakinankaratra region. Its involvement in the ICCA movement began with the integration of TAFO MIHAAVO into the Consortium in 2013. Now, he co-coordinates activities in Madagascar and the Indian Ocean islands.
