Jimmy Qoloni Kereseka

Former Regional Coordinator for East Austronesia and the Pacific Islands (shared with Jovelyn T. Cleofe) in 2022, on behalf of LMMA Network International

Based in the Solomon Islands. Jimmy (Choiseul and Marovo) has been the Project Coordinator and Safeguards Environment officer with the Ministry of Communication and Aviation in the Solomon Islands since 2019. He has more than ten years of experience working with Indigenous communities in Choiseul Province and nationally in the Solomon Islands. He was chosen as the first Solomon Islands Councilor to the Regional Locally Managed Marine Area (LMMA) Network and served in this role from 2011-2017. He completed his MSc in Conservation and International Wildlife Trade in 2018 at the University of Kent (United Kingdom) and his Postgraduate Diploma in Climate Change with the University of South Pacific (USP), Solomon Island Centre Online study, in 2017. He also has an Advanced Diploma in Teaching Secondary Science (2005, Solomon Islands College of Higher Education) and a BSc in Biology and Chemistry (2001, University of the South Pacific, Fiji). Jimmy continues to connect with Indigenous communities in Choiseul Province and the Solomon Islands as a whole.
