The Consortium joined forces with WILD10 to organise a number of events and offer speakers for presentations during the Indigenous & Community Lands & Seas Forum (ICLS Forum) that took place in Salamanca (Spain) on 8-10, 2013.

  1. Indigenous peoples, traditional communities, “wilderness” and nature – Exploring a revealing paradox
    In this panel discussion representatives of indigenous peoples and traditional communities from various continents illustrated – with words, pictures, presence and sounds – their notion and experience of “nature”.

  2. Governing wilderness”? Why? Who? How?
    This workshop introduced and discussed the concept of “governance” of protected areas and of nature/wilderness in general and explored how indigenous peoples and traditional communities understand the idea of governing/ being governed by nature.

Deepening voices from Greenland lead to visual stories

Throughout 2017 Snowchange, Greenlandic partners, Skolt Sámi and the Danish NORDECO partnered on a Nordic Council -sponsored project “eXchanging Knowledge”, to find new, direct ways of expressing Indigenous and local-traditional knowledge, as well as support direct exchanges between hunters, fishermen, women, reindeer herders, managers and researchers. Read more ▸

Fisherwomen learning exchange gathering in Costa Rica

Women play a crucial role in small scale fishing in oceans, rivers and mangroves.
