Web & Social Media Coordinator
Based in Lima, Peru. Melissa has been working as a web developer and data engineer for more than 8 years. She is a systems engineer from the University of Lima and is self-taught in new technologies. She also has knowledge of audiovisuals, photography, digital media, and user experience design. Within private companies, she has worked as a data analyst and cognitive technical expert deploying solutions with artificial intelligence. She is currently part of the communications area at the Gustavo Mohme Llona Foundation, where she supports projects related to education and journalism. As a freelancer, she has collaborated with independent investigative journalism media on reports related to environmental issues, extractive industries, and social conflicts. In 2016, she was part of the team of “Excesos sin castigo”, a project that showed the patterns of behavior of extractive industries in Peru and their impacts on the lives of people in the Andes and the Amazon; it won the Data Journalism Awards in the News Data Apps category. Melissa also collaborates in the development of websites for film festivals, non-profit associations, and other organizations.
