Over 227 people including indigenous communities from across the region (Paw Klo, Kamoethway, Tanintharyi Township, Katan PPF, Palaw Reserved Forest, Htin Mae PPF, Lenya, Monorone and Heinzel Kalay Aung Reserved Forest), civil society groups, international organisations and government representatives came together at the Regional Forum on Forests and Peoples held on 8th April 2019. During this workshop, indigenous communities from the Tanintharyi Region in Myanmar debated problems with forest governance and demanded recognition of their ICCAs – Territories of Life.
