The association’s 17th General Assembly had more than 200 unique participants over three days, shared multimedia reports on key areas of work and took several important decisions, including on governance documents and new Council members. Read more ▸
The 17th General Assembly of the ICCA Consortium will be convened virtually from 8-10 June 2021 from13:00-15:30 UTC each day, with additional dates (11-12 June 2021) for online social events. Members, Honorary members, and partners from across Southeast Asia took to cyberspace for the 2nd Southeast Asia Regional Assembly from 1-4 June 2020. Youth for Territories of Life, the Youth Group of the ICCA Consortium, held its first global gathering online and in three languages! The meeting was an opportunity to define strategic lines of action for the group, along with concrete steps for moving forward. Read more ▸

The ICCA Consortium organised the first round of online discussions to bring together our membership in this difficult time, to strengthen solidarity, share experiences and responses from territories of life around the world, and jointly reflect on the ICCA Consortium’s role, both now and into the future. We shared inspiring stories as well as challenges, as we considered how the ICCA Consortium could play a role in confronting and affecting the dominant paradigms that led to the emergence of COVID-19. Council member José Aylwin participated on behalf of the Consortium and its working group on defending territories of life, where he presented the perspective and work of the Consortium as well as the difficult context of environmental and land rights defenders in Latin America in particular. ICCA Consortium Members, Honorary members and partners joined forces for an ambitious international workshop that could help change the course of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework – by putting human rights firmly at its centre. Read more ▸
South Asia’s first Regional Assembly gathered Members and Honorary members and partners of the Consortium from India, Nepal and Bangladesh, in Rajasthan, Northern India to share experiences and define a way forward for community conservation in the region. Among these were the creation of seven thematic groups which listed immediate action points. Read more ▸
The ICCA Consortium’s XVth General Assembly in Udaipur, India, was an important moment for the founding and next generation leadership. It marked the last GA co-organised by Grazia Borrini Feyerabend, one of the Consortium’s founders and leaders, who moved into the Council of Elders. The membership welcomed several new Council members by consensus, including a number of young leaders, as well as new team members in the global Secretariat. Read more ▸
