In celebration of both the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples (August 9) and International Youth Day (August 12), the ICCA Consortium’s Youth Group and the Global Youth Biodiversity Network invite you to join “TAYAW: A solidarity celebration of territories of life” on Friday, August 13 from 12:30 to 13:30 UTC.

By sharing cultural and artistic expressions, this virtual gathering is an opportunity for renewed celebration of international solidarity and the vibrancy of Indigenous and local cultural diversity.

Inspired by the Ibaloi community dance “Tayaw” performed during feasts to express joy and celebration, we invite members of our communities to share songs, dances, poems, stories, artwork, music videos, or other forms of cultural expression during the event, preferably live. Still, we would also be happy to share short pre-recorded video clips if you cannot join live.

We warmly encourage contributions from Indigenous peoples and local communities and in Indigenous and local languages, along with a brief introduction and/or explanation in Spanish, French, or English to enable cross-cultural understanding.

If you would like to secure a spot in the program, kindly contact Diana San Jose at diana.sanjose [at] ntfp [dot] org by 11 August and let her know what you would like to contribute.

We will also have space for people who only decide during the event that they want to share something.
